moving on

i know a lot of people are happy to see 2008 go, but i have to admit that the year wasn't all that bad for me. while i struggled with liking my job and overall career satisfaction, and we lost T's grandfather, generally, we were pretty happy. In addition to having our jobs and our health, we accomplished quite a few things. on a personal level, i managed to:

- obtain a defense verdict in my first jury trial
- get a raise
- run a 5k
- finish a sprint triathlon and quarterman triathlon
- visit: Cincinnati, Ohio; Florence, Kentucky; Seattle, Washington; Rocky Point, Mexico, and San Diego, California;
- join a Masters swim team
- read a TON of books
- turn 31
- bought a road bike
- saw T finish residency and get a real job!

but i've got even bigger plans in store for 2009. i plan to:

- run a half marathon
- work on figuring out what i'm doing with my life job-wise
- run a 5k even faster than last year
- finish several sprint and olympic distance triathlons
- become a better cyclist
- finish a really big triathlon (more details later in 2009)
- floss every other day
- grow my hair out
- go to Hawaii and the Carribean
- see my family more
- work on taking things less personally and being less stressed
- be a better wife
- buy less stuff
- eat at home more, and
- work on being being okay with being *me*.

i know i qualified some of these resolutions with "work on"- but i feel like that is the surest way not to disappoint myself and to keep myself moving forward. i know a lot of the things i want to change aren't going to happen overnight, and i want to give myself permission to work on them, instead of demanding they happen this year, and becoming frustrated when they don't happen because i didn't give myself a realistic time frame. realistically, i know i'm probably not going to figure out my calling in life or take things less personally in a year. with that said, i want to start putting in some effort on those things, and in time, with some work, i'll know they'll happen.

i've got a lot of work ahead of me! here's to a successful 2009!

Oh I LOVE triathlons!

I need to work on my swimming...my upper arm strength is just not there...no matter how much I lift.

Your blog is adorable! I just started officially following it as I'm new to the blogging world =). I'm excited to see how you're training goes since I'm running my first half marathon in May. I have a VERY rough draft of my blog up- The Prepster's Guide To The Waiting Game- which I hope you can stop by. I look forward to getting to know you!
